Birth workers supporting each other and you

We are a network of independent birth and postpartum doulas offering support in Salem and surrounding areas.  As well as supporting our clients, we also support each other, providing back-up to one another and meeting as a group on a regular basis. We are devoted to, and passionate about, supporting births and families.

We encourage you to interview and meet several of us, and find the doula that fits best with you, your partner and family. We want to add to, and never take away from this life changing event. Because each of us are individual doulas, we all have different service packages. Please contact us individually to find out about our unique service packages and the fees we charge.

What We Do

Birth Doulas

  • Recognize birth as a key experience the mother will remember all her life
  • Understand the physiology of birth and the emotional needs of a woman in labor
  • Assist the woman in preparing for and carrying out her plans for birth
  • Stay with the woman throughout the labor
  • Provide emotional support, physical comfort measures and an objective viewpoint, as well as helping the woman get the information she needs to make informed decision
  • Facilitate communication between the laboring woman, her partner, and her clinical care providers
  • Perceive their role as nurturing and protecting the woman's memory of the birth experience
  • Allow the woman's partner to participate at his/her comfort level

Postpartum Doulas

  • Offer education, companionship and nonjudgmental support during the postpartum fourth trimester
  • Assist with newborn care, family adjustment, meal preparation and light household tidying
  • Offer evidence-based information on infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, infant soothing and coping skills for new parents and make appropriate referrals when necessary

Research evidence shows that the quality services of a postpartum doula can ease the transition that comes with the addition of a baby to a family, improve parental satisfaction and reduce the risk of mood disorders.

Other Perinatal Support Services

  • Nutrition in pregnancy and postpartum
  • Placenta encapsulation
  • Perinatal anxiety and depression support.

More services will be added soon!
