I am an infant craniosacral therapist who specializes in bodywork for babies with colic, feeding troubles, torticollis, and head shaping issues (plagiocephaly). I have seen how helping babies be more comfortable in their bodies can not only help them feed and sleep better, but can also help reduce stress for their caregivers and siblings.
I am also a pelvic floor specialist and trained Holistic Pelvic Care™ practitioner with a background in yoga and movement. I focus on bodywork, breathing, and small movements/exercises to help improve pelvic floor function, decrease pain, and heal pelvic organ prolapse and diastasis recti. Pelvic floor assessment and bodywork can be helpful for folks with a history of cesarean birth who are hoping for a VBAC.
With a background as a homebirth midwife (2016-2023), I appreciate the importance of good postpartum support, and I think everyone should have access to it. Did you know that folks that give birth with a homebirth midwife get at least 5 visits - for baby AND for them - in the first 6 weeks postpartum? All of the baby questions (feeding, weight, sleep, output, behavior) and all of the postpartum questions (pelvic floor function, healing, breast issues, libido, movement/exercise, mood, etc) are answered by your trusted midwife in the comfort of your own home. Compare this to the standard of care received by folks who give birth at the hospital: one short visit for baby within the first week of life primarily to check on feeding and weight, one short visit at 10-14 days for the second heel poke test and another weight check, and just one visit at six weeks postpartum for the person that gave birth to get an all clear for sex and exercise and have all of their questions answered. As a postpartum doula, I aim to fill in these huge gaps. I want you to have an expert available to answer your postpartum and baby questions, no matter where or with whom you choose to give birth. In addition, I love to cook nourishing postpartum foods, prepare healing herbal infusions, provide healing baby and pelvic floor bodywork, help with cleaning tasks so you can be in bed with your baby, provide care for baby while you get much needed sleep alone, and provide coaching for elimination communication, cloth diapering, and baby wearing.
If you are planning on a low-intervention birth, consider my in-person, small group Natural Childbirth Class, offered every 6 weeks or so at my beautiful Salem office.
