I am a wife, mom to two, and a birth and postpartum doula. I love boardgames, reading rom-coms, and having 30-second dance parties.
Before becoming a doula, I spent 11 years working with the special needs community in a variety of settings. In 2018, my partner and I became foster parents to children with medical complexities. For years, our home had a constant flow of certifiers, caseworkers, attorneys, and a wide variety of therapists. There were a lot of highs and a lot of lows, and I learned the value of a good support system. I heavily attribute these experiences to shaping me into the caregiver and provider I am today.
My time working primarily with people who communicated in ways other than spoken word taught me the importance of reading a room, paying attention to subtle changes, and anticipating needs. And my years of being a medical foster/adoptive parent taught me to stay calm and collected when the unexpected happens, to advocate for the needs and wants of others, and the importance of having a plan, while also going with the flow.
As a doula, my role is to authentically provide personalized physical, informational and emotional support throughout your pregnancy, birth, and/or postpartum experience. Allow me to wrap my arms around you – figuratively or literally – and empower you to feel confident and capable during this incredible time of transition.
